Thankful for Lives Changed
This
year we have so much to be thankful for. Thankful for God’s provision as we
prepared for and moved to Uganda. Thankful for safety in our time here and in
our travels. Thankful for family and friends that pray for us and have partnered
with us in what we are doing here. Thankful for the opportunity to love and
disciple young Ugandans through education at Amazima. It is such a privilege to
be a part of God’s life changing work!
Just this week, we had 5 students accept Jesus Christ as their Savior! This is not a rare occurrence. Students frequently learn about Christ in the classroom, in devotions with their family mentors and house mates, and in Sunday worship and Wednesday chapel time. The Spirit is moving on campus at the Amazima School and it is so cool to see it happen! Some of our students came with some understanding about Christ, but have since learned how to read and understand scripture and what it means to live like Christ and witness. Other students came with almost no knowledge of Christ, and have been introduced to the Savior through teachers, mentors, and other workers at Amazima. Some students come from Muslim families and are so excited to learn about the love of Christ and the life changing power of the Spirit, but are struggling with how and when to share this with their families. Regardless of where students come from or what they know when they get here, their lives are being changed by Christ! This change goes beyond just the students. We’ve heard testimony after testimony about how our students go home and lead to change in their families and communities. Praise God! After not even two years of The Amazima School opening its doors, we already see the life changing work of Jesus Christ in the lives of our students and in the communities surrounding them. Again, we are so thankful to be a part of this mission and so excited for what God has ahead in the two or more years we will be here!
